This event will take place at the COMMUNITY CHURCH in New York City, site of a number of the early talks and presentations offered by Dr. Lowen.

The memorial will be a two-day event beginning on Friday April 3rd, and continuing Saturday April 4th, 2009. The first day will be a day of recognition of Al’s contributions and reminiscences and appreciations by many of those who were touched, inspired, and educated by him. Included among the speakers that day are: Bob Lewis, Vivian Guze, and Ed Svasta, Time and space will be made also for tributes, or recollections from those attending.

The second day of the event will be devoted to understanding the place of Bioenergetic Analysis in the field of psychotherapy, including Al Lowen’s contributions and our future directions. Addresses to the group will be made by George Downing, and by Robert Hilton. These talks will be followed by small group discussions facilitated by members of the IIBA Board of Trustees.

Al was an unambivalent supporter of the work we all do as bioenergetic therapists, and as body psychotherapists. It is in that spirit of commitment and passion that we come together to memorialize the man, acknowledge his contribution, and plan to continue the legacy with which he has endowed us.
